Stress

Just thought I'd share this video with you readers: Signs of stress

Why? Asshat's been stressing the frack out of me and mom again. Main thing for me is how lousy his driving has gotten in the last few years. Mom's stressed out over how he doesn't pay bills on time and doesn't keep track of what he's paid and when.

WOOHOO!

OBAMA WON!!!!!!!!

Thank God Romney got tossed! I don't think his plans would have really worked for us common, hard-working folks, anyway.

Wound up being a bit of a case in point when I went to vote today. I was listed as inactive since I didn't vote in the last national election or the last local one, and had to show ID. Apperently, one of the poll workers had a question about inactive voters and I just happened to be the first one to come in, so I wound up being the example voter. Eh. Someone has to do it, right?

F'ing Hurricane part 2

The rain's started, just  waiting on the wind to pick up more. This... Is gonna be veeeeery fun... Hopefully, we'll make it through the storm okay. (Loki) Let's hope. (Kat) Thankfully, work's closed today and tomorrow. Thank god they've got some common sense.

Current knitting

Still working on the never-ending shawl for Belle. As soon as I get that finished, washed and sent out, it's on to a pair of armwarmers for Rio and a baby blankie/baby item for Mike and Ashley at work, plus a work cowl for Mom. Yea, my knitting cue runneth over! Fun, hm?

Later!

F'ing Hurricane

Don't you just love Nature?

Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy's barreling down on Pennsylvania right now. So far, my employer hasn't closed down Monday and Tuesday, even though we've got kids who are close to Letort Spring Run, which could flood pretty bad with the rain we've got forecast for the area. But we'll see more as she kicks our arses. I'll let you know more later.

For now, check out the website for the local ABC website.

Yay weekend!!!

Thank god it's finally here! Went through caffiene withdrawl this past week, and it was not fun at all. Wound up with a nasty ass migraine and was tired as heck Monday, and had to take off then, went in Tuesday, and took off Wednesday because of a nasty headache at my left temple (Always get my caffiene withdrawl headaches there... Why, I dunno.) and a slightly upset stomach whenever I ate. Went in Thursday and Friday, though. Thankfully, got some coffee that my stomach can stand along with creamer and sugar Friday night after work, so I've got my caffiene supply for now. Don't need a repeat of this past week again.

Current knitting

Working on a commissioned piece of knitting for a friend of mine from the GhostVillage.com forums. Don't have current pictures because it's a gift for her mom, but it's a nice navy blue version of Ashleys shawl. The three I've knit so far have all been knit out of Lion Brand Wool Ease. This is definitely my go-to yarn for this, and it's thankfully machine washable, too.

Well, that's it for now.
Tchuss!

I'm Back!

Well, I've got my laptop fixed! Still a few tweaks that I need to do, namely upgrade the operating system, add Microsoft Word, and check out why it won't play my DVDs, but otherwise, Draco is good to go. Thankfully!

My dad is a freakin' IDIOT!!!!!

Why? Long stroy short: He was online last Monday looking at who-knows-what, the computer locks up with an official looking bit about looking at child porn and having that lock up the computer, and paying a $200 fine to the FBI to unlock it. Dad goes and pays the $200, goes to mom's work and tells her and she drags him down to the local PD after she gets out of work to report it. He admits to looking at little kids in bikinis and porn on mom's computer to the cop, and they come to the house after we all get home to take the CPU to search it.

Mom and I are pissed because both of us use the computer for our own stuff, and also because every time he's been caught looking at this schiesse in the past, he's promised not to do it again and we've caught him. Plus, since he's retired and we're still working, we expect him to pull his weight in house cleaning and the like. What does he do? Read, sleep and look at porn on mom's computer. Any time we confront him about it, he starts saying he's going to kill himself/move out/blames himself for everything that goes wrong in the house, which pisses us off even more because you'd expect that kind of BS from a 15 year old girl, not a 63 year old man. Mom had to drag him to his doctor a couple months ago to get him a physcial and see if the 3 concussions he had when he was a kid had anything to do with the schiesse he keeps pulling. Well, the concussions didn't show up on the MRI his doc ordered, but the doc put him on anti-depressants. They worked okay for a couple weeks, then just... Stopped working. Mom and I are fed up with it, and told him point blank that until he starts doing what he needs to around the house, he's not getting access to her computer, and even when he does, he's going to have his account parental blocked up the arse, and he's only going to be allowed on the computer for an hour or two when one of us is home. Of course, when she told him this, he launced another drama queen bit, then started talking about getting a cheap laptop, even after mom reminded him that the money needs to be spent on fixing up the bathroom, kitchen and the radiator in my room. Ugh!
Anyway, sorry for venting at y'all, but this has been pissing me off for the last week or so, and I don't wanna keep venting at my coworkers.

Emo bullshit

Ugh. I don't know why, but I've been getting more easily depressed for the last couple of weeks. Why? Bugger if I know, or can figure out why. Is it annoying? Fuck. Yes. Is it pissing me off? Yes. The real kicker, though? Last night. I was on Yahoo Messenger, talking with a friend of mine, and I was really freakin' tired. I kept telling her and telling her, but we kept on talking anyway. Well... I wound up blowing up at her, Mark bitched at us both... And I woke up today with the beginnings of a migraine and feeling even more emo.

*sighs* God, I hate it when shit like this happens. Am I just a whiney fatassed loser? Proba- No, I most definitly am. Probably why I don't get people commenting on here, even when I ask, unless I know them from Ghostvillage, or they're a friend. Yeah, I'm bitching at you, Lurker! I know you're reading this, and thinking, 'Oh, she's just whining, she can do soooo much better!' Well, thanks! Your  lack of posting means I don't get feedback on what I can do better on this blog!

Ugh. Yeah, I know I just ranted. Do I care? No. Do I feel better? Yes.

Later, freaks,

Weird ways to find my blog

I've been keeping an eye on how readers have been finding my blog and so far, the oddest search term that's somehow led to my blog is... Avengers party cup ideas. How that led here is anybody's guess... Well, besides the picture and part of a post of the cups I had posted a bit ago. Other ones I've found weird that have led here: crochet star trek baby blanket, and caution bipolar bitch. Why? Boggles me, but hey, as long as it leads here, why worry? Plus, it provides me some amusement when I see them. And yes, keep the odd search terms coming, kids!!!

Now, for some random pictures from the internet, Avengers edition!

Loved the scene where Thor and Tony were beating the everloving sh!t out of each other. Why? It's just funny as hell to me. Almost as funny as Hulk thrashing Loki... And Hulk punghing Thor... Why? Buggerall if I know. I just do. And yes, I'm odd. I don't care!

Would I reccomend seeing this on DVD? HELLS YES!!!!!! If only for the Hulk beating on DemiGod scenes. Oh, and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye/Clint Barton. Fuckin' sexy.

Hate is not the answer

How the hell is it still acceptable for people to hate on and be afraid of the LGBT community?!? Didn't the big guy upstairs want us to love and be loved, no matter what?

Here's the petition that brought that up.

Yes, I know I'm probably gonna get blasted by folks who don't believe the same way I do, but so what? I know and accept that you believe that gays, lesbians, bis, and transexuals are all going to go to hell just for being attracted to others of the same gender and not feeling comfortable in the gender they were born in. But you know what? Love. Is. Love. Doesn't God want us to be happy and love each other? Fuck yeah, He does. In my opinion, if anyone's gonna go to hell, it's going to be the folks who are afraid of the simple fact that they love each other. They're just like the hetero community, folks!

Anyway, Peace out, my freaks!

Radnom pictures of a cemetary, current knitting and Avengers cups

Yes, you heard that title right, I've got cemetery pictures! Plus current knitting and Avengers cups!

First off though, I've got pics of my new bike! Well, new to me anyway. I picked him up used at Coles Bike Shop in Carlisle, Pa. Good shop, and I definitely recommend them for bike repairs if you're in the area. I've taken my bikes to them for repairs ever since I started working, first because they were the only shop I remembered being in the area from when I was younger (Folks took my trike there once, and I remembered it ever since. Wierd, huh?) and kept coming 'cause they're just that damn good. The last bike I took in to get repaired/fixed up was a NEXT bike and I already knew it would take a bit of money to fix up there, and the one lady I talked to said it would wind up costing over $200 for a completly new back tire (one on it was bent just enought to telescope through the chain into the pedals and hit the back brake, which needed replaced too.), and the front tire was dry rotted and would need replaced. Forget off hand what-all else she said would need repaired/replaced, but that it wouldn't be worth it for what was a free bike. *sighs* Oh well... Talked to the coworker who found it for me to see if the guy she got it from would take it back. Anyway, on to the photos!

This is babyboy. And yes, I name my bikes. Always have. Why? *shrugs* Probably because I tend to ride them til they die. Sadly, I'm not kidding... The bike I had before lilguy (the NEXT bike) wore out on me during the summer, and it took me awhile til I got a new one (lilguy).

Current knitting!

It's about time I posted my knitting on here, huh? I've been on a bit of a cowl kick lately, although I've only got two knitted up, and one on the needles, which is the only one I have a picture of right now.

This is the beginnings of a cabled cowl, just your average two by two ribbing. I cast on for it yesterday, wound up frogging, and recasting on at work. (Which garnered a couple questions from my non knitting coworkers, mainly along the lines of what I'm making. Always fun, that.)

Avengers cups!!!

Yes, I happen to like this movie. And yes, I'm a Clint Barton and Natasha fan. Saw this movie in the theater a bit before its run ended. My favorite parts? Hulk punching Thor, and beating the bejesus outta Loki and at the end, looking at him and saying 'Puny God.' Yes, I laughed. Out loud. And yes, I'm easily amused.

Cemetery pictures!!!

I took these after we had a nice thunderstorm clear out the worst of Satan's armpit Saturday afternoon/evening. The cemetery's Seven Gables, if I remember correctly. I'll have to check again.

The mist coming off one of the roads bordering the cemetery.

The view from one of the 'entrances'.
The skull? Trick of the angle of view. See below for the same headstone full on.

This is one of a few headstones with a figure on that I like.
Kind of blurry, I know, but there's a better shot below.

The Bosler headstone. The library here's named after the family.

Kind of lousy, mainly 'cause I was going through when the sun was going down.

For some reason, this statue creeps me out. I got a weird vibe off it when I was photographing it, too.

I don't know if it was because of the upside down pentacle or what.

Alright, that's all for now. I'll post more of the photos I took sometime this week, along with pics of the other cowls I've knit.

Tchuss, my freaks!

I've got more photos!!

First off, the carnival ones I promised y'all yesterday!

An RIP and Fireworks

First, the R.I.P.

If you haven't heard already, Andy Griffith passed away this morning at 86. He was most famous for his role in The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, but he earned rave reviews for "No Time for Sergeants” and starred in Elia Kazan’s film “A Face in the Crowd.”
Rest in Peace, Mr. Griffith. You will be missed.

Now, for the fireworks!

Carlisle had their annual Indepence Day fireworks show this past Saturday, along with the last day of the annual Summerfair carnival. I've got some pictures of the fireworks. I'll upload the carnival tomorrow when the computer isn't so slow. Hopefully

To the photos!

Alright, that's all for today, kiddies!

More pics, not knit related

Sorry about the lack of posts this last week. We started the 10 hour, 4 day a week schedule at work and it's taking time to get used to. 'Course, about the time I get used to it, it'll be time to switch back to the usual 2:30 til 11 pm schedule. Oh the joys of working for a school district...

Anyway, I've got pictures to share. They aren't necessarily knitting related, but I've got to get decent pictures of that, plus the rosary ReyRey's been bugging me to make.

I'll catch y'all on the flipside!

Arizona fires

Arizona fires

Heard a news story on the local NPR station about the arizona fires, and you know what I thought about? The knitters stuck having to decide which knitting they want to save. I'd seriously hate having to be them right now. Sad, right?

Pictures

Alright, here's some pictures of knitting and other random stuff for your viewing pleasure!

Yes, I know. It's a tad blurry. I'll upload the non-blurry photo tomorrow.

Hope you folks enjoy!

Hm...

What's up with the lack of commenting on posts? Even the ones I ask for comments in? I know folks are reading this blog... (At least I hope y'all are.) But do I get comments? Nope, not many. *sighs* Makes me feel so... Unloved. I know I've got the anonymous commenting enabled.... Or is it something else you're all put off by? Please let me know!

Yay summer...

Well... It's that time of year again. The kids are out of school, the pool's open and full of screaming (and possibly peeing/pooping) folks, hot and sticky weather intersperced with thunderstorms,  and Indepence Day is right around the corner. And here at chez KatKnits, it also means the ever-fun, much complained about summer cleaning at work.

What does summer cleaning entail? Both custodal crews from the middle schools being lumped together to clean both buildings, with four weeks at each. Why do I dread and loathe it? For the last five years, it's involved having to deal with 2 (occasionally 3 if Beffy's in a bad mood.) really freakin' difficult people who cause enough stress to give me migraines, and since last year, ten hour/four day weeks. Do my coworkers and I enjoy this? Hell. No. Are we ever going to get our boss to not lump us with Wilson? Nope. But are we going to deal with it the best we can? Yes, we are.

Only upside to this year that I can see is that one of the difficult people I always dreaded having to deal with finally retired last October. *happydances* So, that's one less stresser for the migraines. However, we don't really know the temperment of the new head custodian, so we're a trifle curious about that. I just hope we avoid any drama this year. (Trust me, there's a story on that... Just don't feel like telling y'all right now.)

Ok, comment or else time! What do you guys and girls look forward to most during the summer? Personally, I look forward to both being able to wear shorts just about no matter what, and Massey's milkshakes. Massey's on FaceBook My summer isn't really complete if I don't go there at least once! Trust me, if you're ever in the Carlisle, Pennsylvania area during the summer, go check them out. You won't regret it!

And Random video time!!! I lurve this video!

What the heck is with Adam and having such kick ass jackets in his videos?!? I keep wanting to freakin' steal them... God, I'm so weird...

Love this song! And his expressions!!! *squees happily*

This song ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, that's all for now.

Just a little fun with stuff you need to know for summer!

Ooh, two posts in one day!!! Okay yes, I know the first wast published very early this morning, but still...

I don't know if it's hot as heck where you are, but it certainly here in my neck of the woods, so don't forget to stay hydrated!!! (Glenn) Trust me, it's better than winding up in the hospital because you're dehydrated as all hell. (Kat) So yeah... Below you'll find a few handy links to sites about dehydration.

WebMD page about dehydration

wikipedia article on dehydration
Another WebMD article, focusing on the fitness side of dehydration
Alright, I hope those links help! Don't forget to drink plenty of water/Gatorade/Powerade! Heck, even eat watermelon or any other fruit or veggie with a high water content! At least that way you'll get a nice double whammy of water and one (or more) of your reccommended servings of fruits and veggies for the day! Plus, they taste good! Have fun, y'all!

Catch you later, my freaks!

Just a little post...

...To let y'all know I'm still alive and kicking. Sorry for the blog drought. Hopefully, gonna be posting a little more coming up, but who knows. Kids here will soon be out for summer vacation, which means the return of summer cleaning and 10 hour days/4 day weeks.  I dislike the fact we'll be working ten hour days, but like the fact we'll be getting four day workweeks out of it. 'Course, the district has decided to screw us over with our time off... For every day we take, they take an extra quarter day from us. Does that really make sense? Not to me or my coworkers. Oh well... Who are we to complain? At least we have full-time jobs with benefits, and aren't slackers.

Anyway, I'll catch you all later!

See ya, fellow freaks!
